How much does it cost to set up an indoor play area or FEC in India?

One of the first questions every prospective operator asks is simple: what will it cost? The honest answer is that it depends on two things — how much floor area you have, and which attractions you choose. This guide gives you realistic, indicative ranges so you can plan with confidence.

The short answer, by venue size

  • ~2,000 sq ft — soft play: ₹40–80 lakh
  • ~5,000 sq ft — soft play + trampoline: ₹1.2–2.2 crore
  • ~9,000 sq ft — full FEC (soft play, trampoline, arcade, VR): ₹2.5–4.5 crore
  • ~40,000 sq ft — large FEC with go-karting: ₹8–15 crore
  • 1,50,000+ sq ft — entertainment destination: ₹25–60 crore+

These are indicative turnkey ranges for the attractions themselves. They exclude GST, civil works, your rent and shell fit-out, and site-specific services. See the Sample Projects page for what each format includes.

What drives the cost

1. Attraction mix

Different attractions have very different economics. Arcade and redemption machines start from under ₹2 lakh per unit and deliver the best revenue-per-square-metre. Trampoline zones and soft play structures run into tens of lakhs. Premium anchors like indoor go-karting (₹60 lakh–1.5 crore) and ice-skating rinks (₹80 lakh–2.5 crore) are major investments that also command premium pricing.

2. Theming and finish level

A standard build costs less than a fully themed, immersive environment. Theming lifts perceived value and ticket prices, but adds to capital cost — it's a commercial trade-off worth modelling.

3. Site readiness

Ceiling height, power availability, floor loading and HVAC all affect what you can install and what site works are needed. A trampoline park needs 5.5–7 m clear height; arcade and soft play work from 2.5 m.

How to think about return

Plan your mix around revenue diversity: footfall drivers (soft play, trampoline), high-margin fillers (arcade, redemption), premium differentiators (VR, karting, laser tag), and attach revenue (F&B, parties, retail). A balanced FEC rarely relies on a single attraction.
